Rachel Simmons (b. 1996) is an American contemporary artist who produces photographs of painted figures, installation work, and illustrations. Understanding identity is a primary focus in Simmons’ art. Her photography practice captures painted nudes against painted abstract settings. Each photo tells a narrative, delving into the artist’s personal experiences, both positive and negative, and how they reinforce her behavior and concept of self. Simmons’ current body of work, the installation series Home, explores the effects of sexism and internalized misogyny on interpersonal relationships and inhabited environments. Simmons’ perception of herself relied heavily on others’ opinions of her until she learned to value and validate herself; now she seeks to empower other women by sharing her story through her work.

Rachel Simmons has been featured in group exhibitions in Tampa, Florida and Savannah, Georgia. She is a graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design and currently lives and works in Georgia.
